# Finster Quarry Finster Quarry is the long-deserted worked-stone quarry named by Talador after asking Sallis for local geography. He described it as about an hour down the road from Ol Hill, with woodland and a lake. The party arrived at sunset and camped there while Vosandra offered her conjured mansion. The vague map lead did not identify a precise laboratory door. ([[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/01 - Sessions/Session 37 - The Leechers, The Witch and the War Mage|Session 37]]) ## The laboratory beneath the lake The next investigation found a broad lake between steep mineral-streaked walls and an underwater hatch activated by a light-enchanted stone. The facility’s own later records identify [[Lab Halen]]. The quarry is its surface setting, not another name for the defence machine or a proven identification of every laboratory previously mentioned. Halen’s separate record preserves the subsequent exploration and collapse. ([[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/01 - Sessions/Session 38 - The Laboratory (Part One)|Session 38]]) ## Boundaries of the evidence The party initially could not identify the rock with certainty. Old quarrying, the log’s Aetherite discovery history and the later laboratory use should be distinguished. Neither a detailed survey nor continued safe access after the later collapse is established. See [[Ol Hill]] and [[Lab Halen]]. ## Collapse and shore awakening After Brogax’s death the party escaped a collapsing dimensional space beneath the lake. The final hatch crushed inward and water swept them out; they surfaced at the quarry, where the reservoir was greatly reduced and the rift sealed. This is the last witnessed surface outcome, without a survey proving every lower passage destroyed or safely accessible. ([[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/01 - Sessions/Session 40 - Aetherite Well Earned|Session 40]]) Beside the shore, Raphius, Pipe and Mealla absorbed their recovered Aetherite pieces while Elena and Persephone declined. The crystals faded grey and the three glowed briefly. Vosandra then opened the mansion doorway nearby. See [[Aetherite Effects]] and [[Time-Touched]] for the observed awakening, rather than treating the lake as itself a proven ongoing power source.
