# Jambo ![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Session Artwork/Session 56/-Jambo.jpg|760]] ## Category Exiled Changeling / Resident of the [[Wendell Ruins]] ## Known Facts - Jambo is a changeling capable of altering his appearance. - He was living alone in the [[Wendell Ruins]] when the party met him in [[Session 56 - The Wendell Ruins]]. - He had not spoken properly to anyone in months. - He had previously made money through secrets and changing his appearance. - He was exiled from [[Bastion]] and said he could not safely pass the nearby checkpoint. - Prolonged isolation, poor diet and hardship have weakened his ability to hold a changed face. - He practises transformations using mirrors but struggles to maintain them. - Before allowing the party to sit with him, he deliberately turned the mirrors around so they did not face upwards. - His living conditions were extremely poor and he had been surviving on scavenged food and scraps. - He carries a blue sapphire brooch that belonged to his grandmother and treats it as important. - He fears other people will see him as a monster. - [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] wrote him a simple guide to safe local plants and mushrooms. - The party offered to help him reach somewhere safer if an opportunity arises. ## Known By - Full party ## Connected To - [[Wendell Ruins]] - [[Bastion]] - [[Mealla Glynn]] - [[Raphius Sunward]] - [[Elena]] - [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari]] ## Open Questions - Why was Jambo exiled from Bastion? - What exactly did he do while making money through secrets and shapeshifting? - Why is he unable to maintain changed faces as he once could? - Can his shapeshifting recover with food, safety and companionship? - What is the significance of his grandmother’s blue sapphire brooch? - Where, if anywhere, could Jambo live safely without hiding his nature? ## Notes Jambo is currently friendly towards the party, but very skittish after prolonged isolation. His fear of judgement and difficulty maintaining a face should not be treated as evidence that he is dangerous. ## Session 57 Update - Jambo accompanied [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] while foraging and began learning how to identify safe mushrooms and other useful plants. - He admitted that having company at the ruins had helped him after a very long period alone. - Mealla offered to help him practise meditation as a possible way to regain control of his transformations. - Jambo said the Crown Guard do not enter the [[Wendell Ruins]], although he does not know the reason. - He remains frightened of being seen in his natural form and of his transformations failing in public. - [[Myst]] spent time with Jambo practising mimicked voices while the party held a private discussion. ## Artwork ![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Session Artwork/Session 56/-Jambo.jpg|760]] ## Session 58 Update - Jambo helped tend the party after the battle with the [[Wendell Spectral Apparition]]. - He remained above as lookout while the party explored the hidden Whune complex, with [[Myst]] left beside him as an alarm and messenger. - [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] later spent one to two hours helping Jambo meditate and reduce the panic that disrupts his transformations. - Jambo successfully held an older favourite face for significantly longer than before, suggesting his shapeshifting control can recover. - When three Crown Guard left the road and entered Wendell, Jambo helped Mealla into a tree and then disappeared from the party's sight. - He reappeared disguised as [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] and deliberately ran from the ruins, drawing the Crown Guard away from the hidden party and towards the checkpoint. - The party later observed disturbance near the checkpoint but could not determine whether Jambo escaped, changed identity again or was captured. ## Current Status **Missing / unknown.** Jambo had not returned to the [[Wendell Ruins]] by the end of Session 58.
