# The Popping A transitional displacement phenomenon that began after lightning struck the red glow beneath [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Hy-Soran|Hy-Soran]]. People, creatures and objects appear and vanish in red, pink, blue or ink-like effects. Its range, rules and dangers remain uncertain. Because people can disappear and later return through the same phenomenon, a temporary absence is not by itself treated as evidence of death, capture or a separate missing-person quest. ## Recorded Sessions [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 01 - The Child in the Cage|Session 01]] · [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 02 - Thornhollow|Session 02]] · [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 03 - Beneath Hy-Soran|Session 03]] · [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 04 - Return to Berran|Session 04]] · [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 05 - The Harpers and the Thieves|Session 05]] · [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 06 - The Race Through the Mansion|Session 06]] · [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 07 - The Voices|Session 07]] · [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 08 - Leaving Berran|Session 08]] · [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 09 - The Moonlit Bounty Stowaway|Session 09]] ## Session 6 The Popping affects multiple party members during the race to the Bardic Circle Mansion. Agaricus vanishes, Votoran reappears, Asher vanishes, and Ahkai appears behind the group. After Rose is stabbed in the hidden study, the phenomenon intensifies into a violent arcane eruption involving red, purple, gold and black energy. Rose and the party vanish. ## Session 7 The phenomenon carries Rose and the party through a sequence of impossible locations: the space between places, the Valley of Moons, a Torraxian complex, Elaris, Dharan and a distant woodland camp. Ahkai describes roughly four missing days between his own disappearance and reappearance, suggesting temporal displacement as well as spatial displacement. ## Session 8 The party finally discovers the larger scale of the time problem. The date is **Summer 24**, meaning roughly **thirty-one days** have passed since the timeline they thought they were still following. Springcrest came and went while their subjective experience was far shorter. Rose continues to pop between Thornhollow and the party, appearing secretly at the Archer and Cask during the night. She indicates that using her abilities can hurt, and Ahkai encourages her to try communicating at a distance rather than physically appearing every time. Votoran also pops away again during the late-night discussion and remains absent at the end of the session. ## Session 9 The Popping again reshuffles the active party aboard the [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Moonlit Bounty|Moonlit Bounty]]. Tilly disappears while still disguised as Matilda. Moments later Votoran returns from the Berran tavern, with almost no subjective time having passed for her since the Session 8 questioning of Sofia. Rose later pops directly into the ship’s passenger quarters despite the Moonlit Bounty already being at sea, then leaves again. This reinforces that ordinary travel distance does not appear to prevent her reaching the party. ## Open Questions - Where were the missing thirty-one days lost? - Did every transition consume external time, or did one specific jump cause most of the displacement? - Why do some people return quickly while others lose days or longer? - Can Rose control the phenomenon, or is she only influencing something larger? - Is the Popping connected to Aetherite, the Astral storm, Rose, or several of these at once?
