She was the true [[The Rose of Igoda/12 - Open Questions & Theories/The Rose of Igoda - Mystery|Rose of Igoda]], the “item” the party had been hired to steal. Rose is frightened, curious, resilient and deeply unused to ordinary kindness. She seems to have fragmented memories of a big castle, a singing man, milk, new mummies and people who brought her glowing plants. She can now “pop” in and out of existence, though her control is limited. She says she thinks about [[The Rose of Igoda/10 - Threats & Phenomena/The Popping|popping]] with her arms, legs and head. She does not always know where she goes or how to return. She also appears to affect magical or glowing plants, causing [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Agaricus|Agaricus]]’ bioluminescent fungi to dim or wither when she is near. [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Tilly|Tilly]] gives her the false identity of Princess Lily to protect her from anyone searching for Rose. ### [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 02 - Thornhollow|Session 02]] Rose continues to travel under the false identity of Princess Lily, though her games shift. In [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Thornhollow|Thornhollow]], she also pretends to be a fairy, imagining wings and magic. She shares more fragments of memory: white horses, a carriage, an ambassador, a castle, and being taken to a “new home.” She reacts badly to washing, revealing that she had been subjected to forced, regimented washing by her captors. She does not understand washing as something gentle, private or self-directed. She enjoys helping [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Tilly|Tilly]] in the tavern, but the noise and crowd eventually overwhelm her. ### [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 03 - Beneath Hy-Soran|Session 03]] Rose continues to form emotional bonds with the party. She asks if they can be her family “for now,” showing both her loneliness and her growing trust. She remembers a green castle, which [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Sevril Yunis|Sevril]] identifies as likely being the [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/The Emerald Palace of Elaris|Emerald Palace of Elaris]]. This suggests Rose may truly be royalty. She remains frightened by some aspects of the [[The Rose of Igoda/10 - Threats & Phenomena/The Popping|popping phenomenon]], especially when she sees others vanish, but [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Thornhollow|Thornhollow]] and [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/The Red Willow|The Red Willow]] seem to give her some comfort. ### [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 04 - Return to Berran|Session 04]] Rose remains in [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Thornhollow|Thornhollow]] under the care of [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Cassa Redwillow|Cassa]] and [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Trekor Loranian|Trekor]]. She shows genuine emotion for the first time during the goodbye, hugging [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Tilly|Tilly]] and [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Asher|Asher]] before they leave. She also teleports to safety during the gnoll attack, showing some instinctive control of her [[The Rose of Igoda/10 - Threats & Phenomena/The Popping|popping]] ability when afraid. She wants a musical present from [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Berran|Berran]], preferably woodpipes or a harmonica. ### [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 05 - The Harpers and the Thieves|Session 05]] Rose appears in [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Berran|Berran]] because she was worried about [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Tilly|Tilly]] and [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Asher|Asher]]. This shows her [[The Rose of Igoda/10 - Threats & Phenomena/The Popping|popping]] ability can now take her across long distances, possibly by thinking about people she cares for. It also makes her far more vulnerable, as she can appear somewhere dangerous without understanding the consequences. She returns to [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Thornhollow|Thornhollow]] after being reminded that [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Cassa Redwillow|Cassa]] and [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Trekor Loranian|Trekor]] will be worried. [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Asher|Asher]] gives her his flute, and [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Tilly|Tilly]] promises to return with an instrument of her own. ### [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 06 - The Race Through the Mansion|Session 06]] Rose unexpectedly appears inside [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/The Hidden Study|the hidden study]] beneath the [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Bardic Circle Mansion|Bardic Circle Mansion]] just as [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Edgar Sturron|Edgar Sturron]] lunges towards the hidden papers. She materialises directly in the path of his rapier. The blade strikes her, leaving her deathly pale and bleeding as everyone in the room freezes in horror. [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Kathryn LeVon|Kathryn]] shouts that Edgar has killed the child, [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Rosetta|Rosetta]] cries out, and [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Niral Kusk|Niral]] urges the [[The Rose of Igoda/06 - Factions & Organisations/The Hot Shots|Hot Shots]] to flee. As Rose crumples and her eyes roll back, the [[The Rose of Igoda/10 - Threats & Phenomena/The Popping|popping phenomenon]] intensifies violently around her. The hidden study fills with people, animals and flashes of unstable magic. Red and purple energy mixes with gold and black before Rose and the party vanish. ## Session 9 — The Moonlit Bounty Stowaway - Rose pops into the [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Moonlit Bounty|Moonlit Bounty]] during the voyage. - She whispers something privately to Ahkai; the content is not established in the session record. - The group interpret her comments as suggesting [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Cassa Redwillow|Cassa]] is trying to train or otherwise make her stronger, while Rose would rather explore and have fun. - Rose mentions Trekor and tells the group he has spoken about Votoran and wants to kiss her. - Rose is pleased that the party are actually travelling to find more Roses of Igoda. - She meets [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Kephri|Kephri]], calls him **Mr Shiny** and accepts a stolen napkin ring from him before popping away again. ## Navigation - [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Player Characters Index|Player Characters]] - [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Non-Player Characters Index|Non-Player Characters]] - [[The Rose of Igoda/00 - Home & Navigation/Campaign Home|Campaign Hub]] <!-- TRoI S07 UPDATE --> ## Session 7 — The Voices - Survived Edgar Sturron's near-fatal attack after a shadowy woman named Kathryn sealed the wound. - Now bears a pale, flower-shaped scar beside her heart. - Heard and followed distant "voices" through a series of locations. - A preserved Rose of Igoda bloomed when she touched it. - Said she can stop the "bad plants" and fix Dharan. - Told Tilly, Votoran, Sofia and Ahkai: **"I chose you. I chose all of you. To help me. To help me stop the bad flowers."** - Recovered Elarisian intelligence strongly implies, but does not explicitly confirm, that Rose may be Nezphu's missing twin sister. ## Session 8 — Leaving Berran - Rose secretly popped into [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/The Archer and Cask|the Archer and Cask]] during the night and found [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07a - Player Characters/Ahkai|Ahkai]] inscribing his equipment. - She brought an oversized bow intended for the blonde, stick-like woman seen during the previous pop and said she believed the two of them could stop the rot together. - Rose remains physically safe in [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Thornhollow|Thornhollow]], although [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Cassa Redwillow|Cassa]] is unhappy with her wandering away through the Popping. - Ahkai encouraged Rose to communicate from a distance rather than repeatedly popping in person. - Rose indicated that she wants the party to find more Roses of Igoda. - She made Ahkai promise not to reveal something from their private conversation; the exact scope of the promise was not clearly defined.
