## Category
Player Character / Druid / Survivor of the [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/The Verdant Grove|Verdant Grove]]
## Appearance
Agaricus is a pale elf with long white hair, blue eyes and extensive vein-like markings across his skin. He wears a mossy cloak, carries a carved staff and has an obvious affinity for fungi and other unusual plant life.
## Known Facts
- Agaricus was foraging for rare bioluminescent fungi when the Astral storm struck.
- He knows the region around [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Hy-Soran|Hy-Soran]] well and recognised the storm as deeply unnatural.
- His glowing fungi dim or wither when brought close to [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Rose|Rose]], a reaction neither Agaricus nor the party yet understands.
- He is blunt, suspicious and often strange in conversation, but his first instinct with the group was still to offer food and help them find safety.
- The [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/The Verdant Grove|Verdant Grove]] was destroyed by marauders. Agaricus is trying to identify those responsible.
- A cube or square marked with a question mark is connected to that attack and to the name [[The Rose of Igoda/04 - Gods & Faiths/Zxella|Zxella]].
- Agaricus recognised [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/The Beacon|the Beacon]] in [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Thornhollow|Thornhollow]] as something unique and out of place, much like the settlement built around it.
- He and [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Pockle|Pockle]] bonded enthusiastically over drink; Agaricus discovered that even a druid has limits somewhere around twelve.
- He has a tendency to speak about fungi with considerably more passion than most people expect.
## Current Personal Threads
- Identify the marauders who destroyed the [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/The Verdant Grove|Verdant Grove]].
- Understand the cube-and-question-mark symbol and its connection to [[The Rose of Igoda/04 - Gods & Faiths/Zxella|Zxella]].
- Understand why [[The Rose of Igoda/07 - Characters/07b - Non-Player Characters/Rose|Rose]] affects his fungi.
- Understand the [[The Rose of Igoda/10 - Threats & Phenomena/The Popping|Popping]] and where it sends people when they disappear.
## Popping History
- Agaricus abruptly popped out before the dive beneath Hy-Soran.
- He later popped back into the group in [[The Rose of Igoda/08 - Locations/Berran|Berran]], apparently resuming almost exactly where his own experience had left off.
- During the race to the Bardic Circle Mansion, he struggled to keep pace, attempted to Wild Shape to solve the problem, fumbled the transformation and then popped out again.

## Open Questions
- Who destroyed the Verdant Grove, and why?
- What does the cube-and-question-mark symbol represent?
- What is Agaricus's full connection to Zxella?
- Why do his fungi wither around Rose?
- Where is Agaricus while he is displaced by the Popping, and when will he return?
## Character Arc Notes
Agaricus entered the story as an eccentric local guide, but the destruction of the Verdant Grove gives his strangeness a much sharper edge. Beneath the fungi, bluntness and drink is someone carrying a profound loss and looking for the people responsible.
His growing connection to the wider party is still uneven. He is capable of genuine kindness, but he remains wary of giving away too much and is quick to remind others to be similarly cautious.
## Current Status
Currently **popped out**. Agaricus vanished during the race to the Bardic Circle Mansion in [[The Rose of Igoda/13 - Session Notes/Session 06 - The Race Through the Mansion|Session 06]]. His absence is consistent with the campaign's established [[The Rose of Igoda/10 - Threats & Phenomena/The Popping|Popping]] rather than evidence of a separate capture or death.
