## Session Notes
### The Dream Realm
Everyone except [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] dreams.
[[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]], [[Pipe|Pipé]], [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]], and [[Elena]] each awaken alone on a mirrored floor stretching into infinity, bordered by water that isn’t wet yet bears their weight like stone. Above: a cosmos of purples and blues, stars drifting lazily across the void. Before each of them stands [[Myvendra]] — the Dreamer — present in all of their separate dreams simultaneously.
![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Session Artwork/Session 32/Harringdon The Dreamer.jpg|780]]
[[Myvendra]] speaks of love and dreams as intertwined forces: one informing the other. The world begins to spin, collapsing into a vortex… and then rebuilding into scenes drawn from each of them.
### Myvendra’s Visions: The Deepest Dreams
The dream fractures into intensely personal memories — not just what they’ve lived, but what they’ve wanted.
[[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] finds herself back near her home, burdened by duty. She watches Eabha joyful in the sun while [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] sweats beneath the weight of the family’s expectations — the ankh, the promise extracted by her grandmother, the obligation to pray, keep the apiary, and preserve what her family protects. Beneath her love is a private ache: a dream of freedom, and guilt for even wanting it.
[[Pipe|Pipé]] stands beside his father Bernardo in the halls of [[Oxentrout University]] on Pipé’s first day as a professor. Pride and sadness mingle in Bernardo’s eyes — pride for Pipé’s success, sadness for his own unfulfilled path. [[Pipe|Pipé]] remembers dreaming that night that his father had achieved the same greatness too, because despite everything, [[Pipe|Pipé]] loves his family… even as he refused the family business to pursue his own dream.
[[Elena]] sees her father perched on the edge of her childhood bed. He brushes hair from her forehead and tells her she looks like her mother, then kisses her head and leaves. Young Elena’s face twists in rage — rage that he will never speak ill of the woman who left; rage that she looks like her; rage that her mother’s absence still casts a shadow over everything. She had dreamt of a world where her mother never existed at all — where it could just be [[Elena]] and her father, unburdened.
[[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] sees himself during exile, alone in a small place after helping a widow repair her roof. He has dreamt of redemption for so long it has become air. He dreams of his parents welcoming him back, of them knowing his innocence, of being seen as pure of heart and honour. As the thought of justice enters his mind, a flash of loathing cuts through the dream — Myvendra’s disgust at his desire for justice.
The visions dissolve. The mirrored floor returns. The cosmos hangs overhead. Now they stand together in Myvendra’s presence.
### Myvendra’s Bargain and the Week’s Deadline
[[Myvendra]] reveals [[Lucius Neeve|Lucius]] is powerful of mind, yet he too dreams — always the same dream: the return of what he loves.
That love has a name: Kira — taken unjustly before her time. [[Lucius Neeve|Lucius]] will get her back by any means.
[[Myvendra]] admits her own dream: the return of her brother [[Yuvendra]], imprisoned within the [[The Elilim Seal|Elilim Seal]]. She asks them if they will help her achieve it.
The party answer carefully: they’ll help, but trust must be earned. They ask for protection from [[Lucius Neeve|Lucius]] and help retrieving the people they love, who are trapped in a situation eerily similar to Myvendra’s brother. [[Myvendra]] confirms she knows who they mean — and that their goals are aligned. She offers a trade: if they help free her brother, she will blind/distract [[Lucius Neeve]], buying them space and allowing them to retrieve their loved ones.
But the conversation turns sharp when they admit they don’t know what power [[Myvendra]] believes they possess. They know they’re time-touched, bound together, and [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/09 - Items, Artifacts & Documents/Aetherite|Aetherite]] has reacted strangely around them — but they have not “unlocked” anything by choice.
[[Myvendra]] circles them. Her eyes ignite with burning purple fire. She swells larger, the pressure of her presence becoming hard to bear.
“If you cannot help me, say so now.”
She declares she has fallen far — her realm taken, her existence constrained — and warns this is still her realm.
They hold their ground and do not deny the truth: it has only been weeks since their binding and discovery, and they need time. They swear they will grow strong enough to free their loved ones — and if freeing [[Yuvendra]] is required, they will do it.
Myvendra’s final terms are simple and terrifying:
She will test them to ensure they are not lying.
They have one week to unlock their time-touched power — or she will reveal their location to [[Lucius Neeve|Lucius]].
The trance ends.
### Morning After: [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] Wasn’t Visited
The others wake hard, immediately noticing [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] wasn’t part of the dream.
[[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] gathers the group. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] had simply tranced normally, untouched by [[Myvendra]]. The party suspect [[Myvendra]] may be avoiding Persephone’s dreams after being told to leave her alone previously.
They regroup and share everything: [[Lucius Neeve|Lucius]] dreams of Kira; [[Myvendra]] dreams of [[Yuvendra]]; and they now have a week before [[Myvendra]] forces their hand. They debate what their powers might be and how to trigger them — likely needing proximity to [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/09 - Items, Artifacts & Documents/Aetherite|Aetherite]], given what happened at [[Peaks Point|Peak’s Point]].
### The Armory: Talador Makes Good on His Promise
Just after six, Bedly wakes them urgently: Talador is waiting outside in the carriages.
![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Session Artwork/Session 32/Harringdon Carriages.jpeg|780]]
![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Characters/Bedly.jpeg|780]]
Bedly rushes them down winding, locked stairways — built to stop attacks — through multiple secured doors to a hidden armory.
A cheerful, thick-set armorer with red hair and a massive beard is delighted to finally have a shopping list. Their requests have been filled as best the house can manage, and they are issued sacks of equipment for the road.
Notable gifts and supplies include:
[[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]]
- Magical arrows
- Enhanced leather armour
- A spice pouch
[[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]]
- A silvered longsword with a [[Serapha]] emblem
- Armour of necrotic resistance
- An arrow-catching shield
- A disguise kit
[[Elena]]
- A ring of evasion
- Oils of sharpness
- A returning dagger
[[Pipe|Pipé]]
- A ring of protection
- A pearl of power
[[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]]
- Enhanced leather armour
- Several daggers
- A golden kind (knife)
Shared supplies
- Healing potions
- A potion of invisibility
- Misty Step potions
- A Counterspell scroll
- Two thousand gold pieces
[[Pipe|Pipé]] asks the armorer if [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/09 - Items, Artifacts & Documents/Aetherite|Aetherite]] means anything to him. He has no knowledge of it.
### Departure: Carriages, Familiar Tension, and Fast Travel
Outside, three enormous lavish carriages wait — each seating six with a driver, pulled by fine horses. [[Vosandra]] sits with their carriage driver, silent and watchful.
![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Characters/Vosandra Umbra2.jpeg|780]]
[[Elena]] releases [[Myst]] (her raven) to fly alongside the carriages, drawing a warning look from [[Vosandra]]. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] later speaks to [[Vosandra]] directly, asking her not to harm [[Myst]] and giving distinguishing details so he won’t be mistaken for a spy-bird. [[Vosandra]] reacts with unsettling, angled curiosity.
Talador explains the cruel logic of his deception: the only way to maintain the mask is to let no one see behind it — even those he cares about. Even his mother must believe he is the man he pretends to be.
[[Vosandra]] also dismisses Mealla’s conjured horse, explaining conjured mounts cannot keep pace with their travel method: they swap to fresh racehorses at every settlement.
[[Pipe|Pipé]] uses the travel time to copy Misty Step from a scroll into his spellbook with his magical quill — startlingly fast.
### On the Road: Illness, “Clerics,” and [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/09 - Items, Artifacts & Documents/Aetherite|Aetherite]]
As they travel, [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] describes the refugees and rumours at [[Peaks Point|Peak’s Point]] — corruption, fear, and sickness.
Talador confirms a growing illness: it begins as a cough, worsens into fever and bedridden collapse, and has killed some. “Clerics” appear offering help, but people who go with them vanish and never return. Talador distrusts them deeply, but admits facts are scarce and much is hearsay.
[[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] asks Talador again about [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/09 - Items, Artifacts & Documents/Aetherite|Aetherite]]. Talador consults [[Vosandra]] and returns with more clarity:
[[Vosandra]] knows of [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/09 - Items, Artifacts & Documents/Aetherite|Aetherite]]: a magical stone from elsewhere that can harness magic, generate power, and strengthen the arcane. Talador notes it has been used in courts to empower monarchies with abilities they would not otherwise have. If it exists here, they may find traces in [[Bastion]], possibly tied to the King — but acquiring it would be difficult.
### [[Bramblewick]]: A Child’s Testimony
They arrive in [[Bramblewick]] near evening — a village wrapped in dense hedges woven with black thorns, reeking of sap and damp earth.
Talador investigates and returns sour-faced: locals report vessels in the sky, disappearances linked to “clerics,” and a child has seen something — but the village calls her a liar.
Talador brings forward a small, frightened girl named Alice. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] kneels, steadying her with a gentle hand as her parents look on.
Alice recounts what she saw:
- Five sick people were taken — but not on horses.
- A cleric with thick black hair and a white stripe (like a badger), dark skin, a large axe, and a cloak of animal fur.
- The cleric used a glowing object that turned a patch of woods grey and twisted, older and dead.
- The clerics and the sick walked into that grey space… and then it vanished.
[[Elena]] recognises the description immediately: [[Zuri Kulum]], a renegade Hand of [[Nyxthys]] — a traitor [[Elena]] has been tasked to hunt. [[Elena]] states plainly this is her duty, and she will see it done.
The party investigates the indicated site and finds signs — horseprints that abruptly stop — but no arcane residue, no discarded items, and no clear trail. Zuri is gone.
### “Happy camping.” [[Vosandra]] Opens the Door
As the sun sinks, the carriages stop beneath trees. [[Vosandra]] casts, forming a shimmering doorway.
[[Vosandra]] speaks for the first time this session — head cocked at an impossible angle:
“Well, shall I?”
She steps through, and Talador follows with a smirk: “Happy camping.”
Inside is an ornate conjured mansion: marble floors, chandeliers, tapestries, plush rooms, and spectral servants. [[Pipe|Pipé]] is awestruck and identifies the spell as Mordenkainen’s Magnificent Mansion, practically vibrating with academic delight. The others find it unsettling — the windows show unfamiliar stars, and once inside, the entrance becomes an unyielding wall.
![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Locations & Shared Scenes/Magnificent Mansion.jpg|780]]
[[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]], especially, cannot relax. She sits near where they entered, staring at the wall as if daring reality to blink. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] eventually brings her to share a room, and [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] accepts, grateful for something familiar.
### [[Nyxthys]] Visits [[Elena]]: The Gods Are Blinded
That night, [[Nyxthys]] visits [[Elena]].
[[Elena]] sees her more clearly than ever — almost a glimpse of a face beneath the veil, a rare honour.
[[Nyxthys]] is troubled. She explains there is only one way to blind the eye of the divine: a weave known only to the gods, demanding immense power, and persisting indefinitely until dismissed. If that weave is active, then [[Nyxthys]] and her kin are blind to everything happening here.
[[Nyxthys]] confirms [[Elena]] may be far closer to a traitor Hand than expected. Zuri is a talented warrior. Other Hands are en route, but will arrive too late.
[[Nyxthys]] cannot intervene directly — but she can “even the odds.”
Divine energy surges into [[Elena]] through her eyes, floods her body, and pours into [[Spada]]. The blade is transformed — now resembling black obsidian stone — and [[Nyxthys]] leaves [[Elena]] with a faint smirk and a final blessing:
“Happy hunting, my Hand.”
### Morning in the Mansion: Sparring and Departure
They wake refreshed, descend for breakfast, and find Talador already eating, gazing out at alien stars while mocking the “rough camping conditions.”
[[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] and [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] spar briefly; [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] bests her and teaches a sharp lesson about footwork and watching an opponent.
They depart again — one more stop at [[Chald]], then onward toward [[Tescalian]]. [[Chald]] proves quiet: no reports of clerics, illness, or disappearances. [[Elena]] wants to hunt Zuri immediately, but Talador notes they have no trail — Zuri vanished through a portal.
![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Locations & Shared Scenes/Tescalian Exterior.jpeg|780]]
### [[Tescalian]]: A Town Without Light
They travel past curfew and reach [[Tescalian]] — behind stone walls and a closed gate.
The town is completely dark. No candles. No lanterns. No hearthlight. No sign of life.
Talador swears under his breath — this is not normal.
He hasn’t heard from his wards in [[Tescalian]] for a week, but this silence is wrong. He orders his guards ready, tells [[Vosandra]] to prepare an escape route if needed, and invites the party to join him — he gave them gear, and now it’s time to use it.
Talador deputises command:
- [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] is given two guards.
- [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] is given two guards.
At the gate, Talador calls out — no response. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] scans the parapet — nothing. [[Vosandra]] teleports to the other side, checks, then slowly opens the gate from within.
The gates groan wide, and [[Tescalian]] lies ahead — a town abandoned in darkness, waiting to reveal what happened to it.
### Memorable Moments
[[Myvendra]] shows each party member their deepest, most personal dream memories — Mealla’s guilt over wanting freedom from duty, Pipé’s father’s unfulfilled dreams, Elena’s childhood rage at her absent mother, and Raphius’s desperate longing for redemption.
“If you cannot help me, say so now.”
[[Myvendra]] grows in size with burning purple eyes when they admit they don’t understand their powers.
“Well, shall we?”
[[Vosandra]] speaks for the first time, cocking her head before entering the doorway she conjures.
Alice’s description gives the party their first concrete lead: a “cleric” with hair like a badger creating a grey, twisted portal space — and [[Elena]] recognising it as [[Zuri Kulum]], renegade Hand of [[Nyxthys]].
“Happy hunting, my Hand.”
[[Nyxthys]] reveals the gods are being blinded by a powerful weave, and transforms [[Spada]] with divine energy.
