# Session 22 - Session Name **Played:** 1st October Following the death of the Bat, the group find themselves in a pit below the broken bridge above. [[Pipe]] lies on the brink of death, [[Raphius Sunward|Raph]] kneels, bloodied. [[Raphius Sunward|Raph]] seeing [[Pipe]] runs over and tries to heal him - nothing. Maela is full of adrenaline, quite overwhelmed with what just happened. [[Elena]] seems quiet. Everyone questions why [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] jumped - what was he planning? - she didnt want Maela to be alone… [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] tries to look for a way out. The sides of the cliff look very dangerous, with lots of rocky overhangs. As the rain falls down around us it does not look like a safe way to get out, especially with Elenas discovered fear of heights. They group travel around the outside of the pit and discover a small break in the rock, one that [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] and [[Elena]] can just make through in armor. They stop just inside, huddled, and take a well needed short rest. As they look down the tunnel, they can see it progresses into a larger space, but what lies beyond? [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] holds his emblem of [[Serapha]] and thinks of his mother, he then surprisingly is able to cast light on a rock before throwing it inside. [[Pipe]] approaches into the cave, looking, listening, with the aid of his Glow Lizards. He sees water pooling into the middle and running down into some sort of sink hole. Large holes line the wall of the inner cavern. Noises are heard, grinding noises. He also sees a small light at the end of the tunnel ![[The Misty Peaks Peaks Point Cavern.jpeg|600]] [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] questions what it might be, and [[Pipe]] explains some possibilities, but settles that it is most likely a giant worm. Territorial beasts, solitary, large, and dangerous. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] is very afraid, unknown to the group if it is the cave, the darkness, or the threat of the worm. Perseophone and Maela are both reluctant to go through the cave until they have explored other options, so they set back outside in the rain and go around the perimeter of the pit to look for other ways with no avail. They head back to the crack, and decide to slowly make their way through. As [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] and [[Raphius Sunward|Raph]] talk about how to be quiet, [[Pipe]] alludes to the fact the Worm has tremor sense. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] suggests that the party goes one way, whilst he goes the other and causes a distraction, which they reject. With no other plan, they cautiously continue. Unfortunately someone makes too much noise and all of a sudden, a gigantic worm comes out of the ground and begins to attack. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] bolts and is out of the cave in fresh air very swiftly, leaving the group to fight the worm. The rest begin the battle. The team slowly progresses to the exit with [[Elena]] places to big hits, and [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] trying to keep the creature's attention. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] makes a dash, picking up [[Pipe]] who isnt very happy at the prospect of being carried. The worm disappears and huge pieces of rock fall from the roof of the cave, knocking out [[Pipe]], killing [[Myst]] and damaging other. As [[Elena]] misses a strike, she says “this would be a really good time to redeem your Oath”. Seeing [[Pipe]] unconscious, others very hurt, [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] holds his pendant of [[Serapha]], internally he sees his conversations from the past few days play out. He thinks of Vhail, how he was a puppet for corruption, and how [[Lem]] was the same, wickness hide behind the innocent. He thinks about how he has always done what his mentors, his commanders told him. Things were always cut and dry, black and white, but out here, in exile, the real world is far greyer. He thinks of his mother. How his mother talks tempered him. His father was his Oath, his mother was his father. His mother taught him that the Law must be tempered by Mercy. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] says his Oath under his breath - Courage, Responsibility, Loyalty, Law…MERCY. As he does, light radiates him as he heals his fallen allies around him, he charges forward, dropping his shield and strikes at the worm, empowered by divine energy. He hits brutally, the worm now looking bloodied. The group finishes off the worm, and safely exits the cave. As they leave the cave, they see stars for the first time in days.
