# 3. Session Three — The Swamp **In-game start:** Spring 56 | **Played:** 8 April 2025 [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/13 - Session Notes/Session 02 - Questions & Answers|← Session 02]] · [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/00 - Home & Navigation/Campaign Home|Campaign Hub]] · [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/13 - Session Notes/Session 04 - Personal Growth|Session 04 →]] > [!abstract]+ TL;DR > - Daggers, Short Sword, Basic Armor, Arrows, 6g (shared amongst us), 2 vials (Black Liquid with eyes). > - [[Pipe]] rises early and begins research on the vials which turn out to be Potions of Darkvision (60ft), amongst other research. Takes us to the table entirely with a Mage hand holding a scroll of sorts. > - As they continue, night encroaches. After unsuccessfully finding a good place to shelter they decide to set up camp on the road. [[Pipe]] and [[Elena]] discover they had tents all along! > - [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] also then notices something near the base of, what remains, of the trees. Fungus, Rot? Something like what she has been encountering at home. She warns the rest and advises them to try and cover their faces. > - Shortly after she notices a silhouette of a huge figure, 2 heads? She calls out, the figure waves her over. > - As they reach their destination, the air feels fresher, the land healthier. The air has a sense of magic and the hum of druids performing a ritual is heard. > - Meanwhile the rest of the group enter a shop. The shop owner (who apparently looks like Adam), explains they don’t have many travellers but would be happy to show his wares. Most are not useful/ affordable. [[Elena]] then asks for information of where they are. > - [[Pipe]] finds another enthusiastic soul and talks fondly and excitedly about his home and research. He eventually comes across a tome which mentions Vanthar and his fall. > [!star]- Memorable Moments > - 🎭 **Roleplay — Elena / Raphius:** A row of corpses sparks the first real clash between their beliefs: Elena sees the body as an empty shell once the soul has gone, while Raphius insists the dead still deserve ceremony and dignity. > - 🔥 **Savage — Persephone:** Raphius suggests Persephone might be better off following a “better” god than the one tied to her parents and sacrifice; she makes it clear she is better off without any god at all. > - 😱 **Terrifying — Mealla:** Mealla is pulled into a vision of her family and friends becoming infected and turning into a tree as the rot itself asks why she can hear it — and promises that it will consume everything. > - 😂 **Funny — Mealla / Persephone / Pipe:** Mealla orders a floral lavender ale, immediately decides the memories attached to it are a terrible idea, gives it to Pipe — and Persephone promptly drinks it instead. ## Session Notes Following the battle, [[Pipe]] inspects the bodies. Daggers, Short Sword, Basic Armor, Arrows, 6g (shared amongst us), 2 vials (Black Liquid with eyes). After failing to find enough firewood to burn the bodies, and no spade to bury the bodies, [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] and [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] bring the bodies and lay in a line next to the cabin. Conversation of death with [[Elena]] and [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]], [[Elena]] believes it doesn’t matter what happens to the bodies, there is no need for them once you are dead. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] believes in ceremony and dignity for the dead. The group head back into the cabin to rest whilst [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] finishes the watch. [[Pipe]] rises early and begins research on the vials which turn out to be Potions of Darkvision (60ft), amongst other research. Takes us to the table entirely with a Mage hand holding a scroll of sorts. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] excitedly interrupts before heading outside to [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]]. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] asks about his God which he explains to be [[Serapha]] the Dawn Flame which she shows no recognition too. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] is shocked and she is seen to be THE god. He explains that she is the goddess of The Sun, purity and Divine Justice. Eternal Guardian against corruption. Worshiped by Paladins and those who seek truth. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] explains that her parents worshiped a god, she doesn’t know much about them. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] links the dagger and potential sacrifice of [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] to this and assumes the god to be old, Pagan and says she could do with following a better god. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] explains she is better off without any god. After discussing the plan, they agree to head to the Misty Peaks. Following a road for some time, the land opens up, trees disappearing, roads looking less used, grass overgrown. Running low on food, [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] spots a rabbit and throws a dagger, mortally wounding it. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] finishes it off. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] explains she can probably more effectively kill any future game. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] is given the rabbit. As they continue, night encroaches. After unsuccessfully finding a good place to shelter they decide to set up camp on the road. [[Pipe]] and [[Elena]] discover they had tents all along! [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] makes a small fire and an underground oven to cook the rabbit. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] flattens the ground. The tents are put up. Tent arrangements are discussed and [[Pipe]], while reading his scroll, has a breakthrough (can’t remember if this was before or after sleep?). After doubting [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]], [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] has a good look around before he begins his watch. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] does a great job! Everyone else does their watches, getting distracted. As [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] ends her watch, she notices something strange with the Weird Stone and wakes [[Elena]] and [[Mealla Glynn|Maella]]. She wakes [[Pipe]] and [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]]. No conclusion is made. Possibly a glitch or mistake? The group pack up and continue heading down the road, where it becomes worse, danker, mustier, boggier. The air is filled with mist. [[Elena]] has a flash of familiarity. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] takes the lead, using her staff to prod the ground. Sinkholes are spotted and avoided, despite [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] also falling. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] also then notices something near the base of, what remains, of the trees. Fungus, Rot? Something like what she has been encountering at home. She warns the rest and advises them to try and cover their faces. Shortly after she notices a silhouette of a huge figure, 2 heads? She calls out, the figure waves her over. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] uses divine sense and notices nothing unusual. The group proceed until they encounter a large Goliath Druid with an owl on her shoulder that shortly after flies away. [[Aemon]] (the Owl) and [[Taxon]]. She explains she is a friend of Finks and will lead us to her Druid Circle. As they reach their destination, the air feels fresher, the land healthier. The air has a sense of magic and the hum of druids performing a ritual is heard. They are taken to the temple where [[Aemon]] shifts form into an elderly Elf. He wishes to speak with [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] and hopes she can help with what is happening to the land. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] and [[Aemon]] enter the temple. Before mentioning this, he may need our help. After discussing known acquaintances and her home, [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] is put into some sort of vision where her family and friends are. Are infected, eventually turning into a tree. The rot, curse, plague? Talks to her and wants to know why she can hear it. It will consume all. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] is shaken as she leaves the vision and is visibly upset by it all. Meanwhile the rest of the group enter a shop. The shop owner (who apparently looks like Adam), explains they don’t have many travellers but would be happy to show his wares. Most are not useful/ affordable. [[Elena]] then asks for information of where they are. They are currently – [[Mire Watch Grove]]. He explains that they came here many years ago and the rot has been here for 25(confirm notes) years. [[Pipe]] asks about books and is directed to the library. [[Pipe]] and [[Elena]] head to the library whilst [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] and [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] look for pastries. [[Pipe]] finds another enthusiastic soul and talks fondly and excitedly about his home and research. He eventually comes across a tome which mentions Vanthar and his fall. [[Elena]] rolls her eyes and leaves. Eventually the group gather in a Tavern where they drink and eat. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] looks upset and she explains, as much as she can, about what has happened. Changing the subject with [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] upset, [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] then asks [[Pipe]] about his luck at the library which causes [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] to start drinking more. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] goes to the bar and asks about mead, unfortunately there is none, she is then given a floral ale, lavender, which sparks bad memories. She gives the drink to [[Pipe]], which [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] shortly after drinks. [[Pipe]] doesn’t drink. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] also arranged rooms.
