Mealla has sensed [[The Blight]] in [[Solland]]. - In [[Bastion]], Mealla saw that the white fall drifting through the [[Menagerie Gardens]] was not snow, but spores. - The spores were coming from a low cave-like opening in a restricted section near the base of the [[Crownshold|Crownhold]] wall. - The cave is believed to be a burial place for workers and slaves who died building the [[Crownshold|Crownhold]]. - Gardeners and Crownsguard who went inside the cave did not return. - Fire briefly worked against the growth, but the rot returned. - Twisted red-speckled vines were creeping up the stonework of the [[Crownshold|Crownhold]] itself. - A pristine white flower was found beside the corrupted roots. - The flower shimmered with faint blue-purple dew. - Wherever the flower grew, the red-speckled vines withered back and died. - [[The Blight]] recoiled from the flower. - Ryla said this was the only known place in all afflicted areas where such a flower had appeared. - Mealla’s bees were immediately and intensely drawn to the flower. - Some bees could land on the flower safely and collect from it. - A bee that landed on nearby red-tinged rot-vine shrivelled and died instantly. - Mealla felt that death through the swarm. - Mealla heard the voice of the rot again near the cave. - Mealla has a close friend named [[Solyanna]]. - [[Solyanna]] is a tinkerer who made things for Mealla and brought joy to her. - [[The Blight]] wants everything to become one. Mealla’s life is built around caring for many small living things that remain distinct, fragile, and worth saving. ## Sessions 49-55 Updates - Mealla learned the flower’s true name: the [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/09 - Items, Artifacts & Documents/Rose of Igoda]]. - She refused Boristov’s offer of one hundred thousand gold and relocation to Elaris. - Mealla insisted that knowledge of the Rose and the rot must be shared internationally rather than claimed by one nation. - She communed with the rot and confirmed that it is intelligent, calculated and manipulative. - The rot attempted to entice her into joining with it and confirmed that the missing workers had become part of it. - A false note under Ryla’s name lured Mealla to [[Slavers' Row|Slavers’ Row]], where bribed Crown Guard attempted to abduct her. - Mealla became wanted in Bastion, cut off her braid and adopted a disguise. - She helped rescue Elena from [[Ironmarch Jail]]. - In the sewers, she sensed the rot beyond the walls and gathered papers from Wilbur’s laboratory. - At the end of Session 55, Mealla was in the cavern beneath Bastion with the rest of the party. ## Current Status Wanted in Bastion and now sheltering outside the city at the [[Wendell Ruins]]. [[Ryla Vein]] and the [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/09 - Items, Artifacts & Documents/Rose of Igoda]] remain missing. ## Artwork ![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Session Artwork/Session 52/Bastion Mealla Hair.jpg|760]] ![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Session Artwork/Session 25/mealla coral.jpg|760]] ![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Session Artwork/Session 25/mealla coral 2.jpeg|760]] ## Session 56 Update - Mealla was the first party member bitten by the [[Giant Mutated Rat Beneath Bastion]] and resisted the unknown effect carried by its bite. - She delivered the killing shot against the fleeing mutated rat, which was the final rat to die. - She scouted the underground river before the others committed to it, identifying distant light and possible air pockets. - She reached Raphius and Persephone when their rope became tangled underwater and helped Persephone free them. - Her bees scouted the [[Wendell Ruins]] and found evidence of a hidden resident. - She made [[Jambo]] a field guide to safe plants and mushrooms and listened when he spoke about his isolation and fear of being seen as a monster. ## Session 57 Update - During her watch at the [[Wendell Ruins]], Mealla’s awareness broadened beyond her own hive and she became faintly aware of other living creatures around her. - She perceived distant static and the edge of a whisper within her mind; the experience was faint and, unusually, not frightening. - The exact source and meaning of this expanded awareness remain unknown. - Mealla shaped a branch into a rough walking staff. - She took [[Jambo]] foraging, taught him how to recognise edible mushrooms and offered to help him practise meditation. - During the fight with the [[Wendell Spectral Apparition]], Mealla learned that attacks against the apparition were transferred through its tether after two of her arrows caused the same wounds to appear on her. ## Session 58 Update - Mealla volunteered to test the unnatural black-and-purple void beneath the [[Wendell Ruins]], discovering that she could breathe within it, gravity was altered and her hive connection to [[Elena]] ceased while fully submerged in the effect. - She helped interpret the hidden complex and the discovery of [[The Final Days of Whune]]. - Mealla kept her promise to [[Jambo]] and spent one to two hours helping him meditate and control the panic that disrupts his shapeshifting. - Jambo successfully maintained an older favourite face for longer than the party had previously seen, suggesting his control can improve. - When Crown Guard entered Wendell, Jambo helped Mealla into a tree before disappearing and later drawing the guards away disguised as [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]]. - Mealla studied [[Jasper]] and judged him highly capable, but warned Elena that he might be there to stop or kill her if she genuinely became one of the Traitor Hands rather than simply rescue her. - [[Elena]] passed her [[Ring of Warmth]] to Mealla before leaving and told her she may be the party's best hope of understanding or stopping [[The Blight]]. ## Current Status after Session 58 At the [[Wendell Ruins]] with Raphius and Persephone. Jambo is missing and Elena has departed with Jasper.
