# The Old Gods
## Category
Divine Pantheon / Pre-Breaking Religion
## Known Facts
- The Old Gods were the main “face” of Pre-Breaking religion.
- Almost all surviving documented religious evidence references the Old Gods rather than the Architects.
- Most cultures recognised many gods but worshipped only one.
- [[The Brotherhood]] appears linked to the Old Gods.
- [[The Brotherhood]] claims the New Gods are imposters or liars.
- The Old Gods were lost, imprisoned, or otherwise removed around The Breaking.
- [[Solland]] blamed the Fallen Old Gods for The Breaking.
- [[The Great Purge]] sought to hunt down and imprison the fallen gods of the old world.
- Some Old Gods or Old God-related entities may remain imprisoned.
- [[The Elilim Seal]] is described by [[Myvendra]] as a prison.
- Myvendra’s brother, assumed to be [[Yuvendra]], is trapped by the [[The Elilim Seal|Elilim Seal]].
- The party has encountered or learned of symbols linked to Old Gods, including in [[Harringdon]].

## Open Questions
- Were the Old Gods truly responsible for The Breaking?
- Were some innocent?
- Were some corrupted?
- Were they imprisoned for justice, fear, politics, or necessity?
- Are all Old Gods imprisoned?
- Which Old Gods are free?
- Which Old Gods are dead?
- Which Old Gods are trying to return?
- Is [[The Brotherhood]] serving all Old Gods, [[Ko]] specifically, or only certain gods?
- Are the Old Gods enemies of the New Gods by nature, or because of what happened after The Breaking?
## Session 58 Update
- [[The Final Days of Whune]] provides the party's clearest first-person devotional account from followers of an Old God targeted after the world was sundered.
- The record says Whune disappeared from her faithful, was later reportedly seen **in flesh** with diminished power, and travelled beside an unnamed **Lord of Death** who had shared her fate.
- The record says the **Lands of Sol** later came seeking Whune's divine self in the name of justice.
- Her faithful deliberately kept her hiding place secret and referred to **the land of Shadow**.
- This complicates, but does not automatically disprove, Solland's doctrine that the Great Purge was a necessary response to guilty Fallen Old Gods.
- The record also suggests that at least some divine beings may have survived the immediate catastrophe in reduced or altered forms rather than simply being killed or imprisoned at once.
## Session 27 — Myvendra’s Antediluvian Account
Myvendra says the beings of the old world were abandoned after The Breaking and that mortals turned against them, blaming their gods for the catastrophe. She explicitly names the Gods of Tarin, the [[Archai]], the [[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/03 - Cosmology & Divine Structure/The Eterum|Éterüm]], the [[The Mitatrun|Mitatrún]] and the [[The Nameless Ones]] among those left behind.
She also identifies [[Solland]] as one of a handful of lands that hunted the weakened survivors and trapped them in seals and prisons. Her testimony provides an important first-person counterpoint to later Solland accounts of the Great Purge.
