# 28. He uses the shit bucket, which had toppled over, spilling urine and faeces all over the boat. [[Elena]] asks who keeps shitting in the bucket and to stop it! > - Back to his books, the gnome returns to studying his texts under the light of the stars and moon. > - [[Elena]], bored and frustrated has been drinking deeply from the flask of whiskey and has become quite drunk. Whilst staring out at the night sky on her watch, the world darkens and fades and she turns to find the looming, shadowy form of [[Nyxthys]] in front of her. > - [[Elena]] listens as [[Nyxthys]] explains that she cannot intervene. The shadow withdraws and life returns to this vision of [[Tarin]]. > - Throughout this vision, [[Elena]] has been silent, listening to the wise and angry words of her deity. However, at being given the opportunity to speak, she disgraces herself with her drunkenness and overly familiarly asks bold questions of the Keeper of Passing. > - Satisfied, though perhaps still disapproving of Elena’s current condition, the vision withdraws and [[Elena]] finds herself stood on the boat, [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] looking at her asking if she is ok. > - The next day, the group find high walls of mountain fjord closing in on them as they draw closer to [[Bokar's Hope|Bokar’s Hope]]. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] tries her hand at swimming, with [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] tying a rope around her, almost as if he is fishing with her, using her as bait. > - [[Pipe]] manages to open the chest and retrieve some gold and a vial of liquid. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] pushes the boat off the rock with her staff once everyone is back on board safely, as [[Elena]] rushes over to check for damage and mend it. > [!star]- Memorable Moments > - 😂 **Gross — Elena / Party:** After the shit bucket tips over and contaminates the boat, Elena finally demands to know **who keeps shitting in the bucket** and tells them to stop it. > - 😂 **Slapstick — Pipe / Raphius:** Pipe Mage Hands the book from the rock, hops over to investigate the chest, slips straight into the water and has to be hauled back out by Raphius. > - 🍺 **Disaster — Elena:** The one night Elena gets properly drunk is, naturally, the night Nyxthys personally appears. After the divine encounter she runs to the edge of the boat to vomit and wails that she has disgraced herself in front of her goddess. > - 😨 **Divine — Elena / Nyxthys:** Nyxthys takes Elena above Tarin, lets her hear the overwhelming voices of the world and answers the claim that the gods are deaf with a simple demonstration of terrifying scale. > - 😂 **Training — Raphius / Persephone:** Persephone practices swimming with a rope tied around her while Raphius controls the line from the boat, making the whole exercise look suspiciously like he is fishing with her as bait. > - 🎭 **Temptation — Raphius / Elena:** Raphius admits he is considering using Vhail’s Blade more often because survival may demand every advantage they have; Elena makes sure he understands exactly what that choice risks. ## Session Notes With the storm now faded, and the sea calm once more, the group recuperate from the assault of the storm elemental. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] takes a look around the boat and appraises it for damage. She notices that one of the outer planks / panels of wood that frames the boat has splintered off and broken. She notices the bits of wood floating nearby in the water, near to where [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] is still treading water, having been knocked overboard. The pair wonder how they are going to repair the boat, but [[Elena]] says that if they are able to retrieve all the pieces and match them up, she should be able to mend the broken seam. She knows a handy little spell that she always has prepared to help maintain broken links in chain mail or tears in clothing / cloaks. As the pair match up all the pieces and push them together, [[Elena]] places her hands over the seams and concentrates. A minute or two later, as she removes her hand, the wood is now whole again and seemingly stronger than ever. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] asks to use some of the oils and rags to clean his armour to prevent it rusting. The group take a short rest and take stock of their situation as the sun sets and evening draws in. With no fish being caught, the group rely on rations again for an evening meal. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] says to [[Elena]] that he feels that he ought to be using anything he can to assure their victory and survival and speaks to her about wielding [[Vhail's Blade|Vhail’s Blade]]. [[Elena]] cautions [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] and says how does he know that thing didn’t have a soul. Does he wish to corrupt himself and those around him? Does he wish to become his master and fall to madness and kill all those he loves? [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] sighs and moves off, eating his rations. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] stares up at the stars again, and occasionally asks [[Pipe]] the names of the various constellations. The gnome absent-mindedly looks up at the one which she is pointing at and quickly makes up some name to placate the girl, which she believes readily. Back to his books, the gnome returns to studying his texts under the light of the stars and moon. He discovers a new ritual called “Sanctary Regressus” which appears to be a way of recalling the creatures. He also reads that [[Vanthar's Sanctarium|Vanthar’s Sanctarium]] was a project designed to prevent species from becoming extinct from the apocalyptic events of the breaking. A splash from behind him reveals his little Hister has caught a small fish and is looking at [[Pipe]] proudly. He gives his permission for it to eat the fish and it does so readily. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] beckons [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] away from [[Pipe]] noticing that her constant disruptions are beginning to annoy the gnome. She distracts the girl by telling her a story about two of the constellations, The Wolf and The Stag. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] listens, enraptured by the tale. [[Elena]] is sat at the back of the boat, steering the rudder, gently correcting course every now and again when needed. With the waters calm, she pulls out [[The Final Journey]] from her backpack and begins to read the next page that she needs to decipher. She begins to trace some of the runic language and mutter some of the incantations, but quickly gives up, at it is too much of a challenge for her to decode. She begins to drunkenly slur her words. It seems that whilst the rest were attending to other tasks, [[Elena]] has been steadily drinking from the flask. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] and [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] glance at her, having spoken to her about not drinking. Meanwhile, [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] and [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] speak more about their faith, with the dwarf speaking of her Nana and their relationship and [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] speaking of [[Serapha]]. [[Elena]], bored and frustrated has been drinking deeply from the flask of whiskey and has become quite drunk. [[Nyxthys]] asks her what she wishes. [[Elena]] boldly asks her why she does not intervene. Why she allows such evils and misery. She asks why the gods are silent and distant. She explains that the group have seen the horrors of the cult. That there are those who seem to harness power and play with the domain of the gods. That people are suffering. That if the gods intervened, it could all stop. The scene shifts and [[Elena]] is transported high above [[Tarin]], looking down on the world. However, she is not afraid, as the presence of the goddess is besides her. [[Nyxthys]] allows [[Elena]] to hear all the voices of the world, an overwhelming cacophony of sound. “I am not deaf to such requests” the goddess mutters. Suddenly, a small gesture, a flick of the wrist. She gestures and billions of ravens ravage the land and purge it of all life, a dark shadow enveloping all of [[Tarin]] extinguishing all voices, plunging the vision into silence, beautiful silence. ![[Lineage of the Veiled Kin/99 - Attachments/Gods & Symbols/Nyxthys Tarin.jpg|780]] “The answer is obvious yet none come upon it. It feels safer to ignore it.” [[Elena]] listens as [[Nyxthys]] explains that she cannot intervene. The shadow withdraws and life returns to this vision of [[Tarin]]. “As gods we can change whatever we believe, but then who is in control?” “To interfere is to set a precedent. We who are charged to watch over you. You would become nothing more than puppets. Thus, we abide by our one rule, the universal law. That we shall never intervene. You are free. Your choices are your own. for better or worse.” The vision shifts and once more [[Elena]] is stood in front of the Dark Lady, strands of infinite silver threads flowing from her hair behind her. Her domain is of mortal souls. It is sacred and divine. The soul is the essence of every being and each one precious. There are those who have found ways to abuse this. The [[Hands of Nyxthys]] are those she charges with rectifying this, freeing souls and bringing them back to her domain. So, for The [[Hands of Nyxthys]] to utilise their station to deceive and harm others, to deceive a god, treachery of highest order. She charges [[Elena]] with locating these renegades and putting a stop to them. Throughout this vision, [[Elena]] has been silent, listening to the wise and angry words of her deity. However, at being given the opportunity to speak, she disgraces herself with her drunkenness and overly familiarly asks bold questions of the Keeper of Passing. [[Nyxthys]] looms over her, cowing her and intimidating her, disappointed by her behaviour. [[Elena]] tries to redeem herself by stammering out that she has given her very soul to her, that she would do anything for her, that she WILL find these renegades and put a stop to their betrayal. Satisfied, though perhaps still disapproving of Elena’s current condition, the vision withdraws and [[Elena]] finds herself stood on the boat, [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] looking at her asking if she is ok. The cleric runs to the edge of the boat and vomits, the contents of her stomach being voided, as [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] rubs her back. [[Elena]] wails that she disgraced herself in front of her goddess. That she brought herself shame. The ONE time she gets drunk, and it had to be this evening that she is called upon…. The wreck could be that of any vessel they support, but could be that of [[Bokar's Hope|Bokar’s Hope]] itself, the namesake of the inlet. [[Pipe]] spots a book on the rock, miraculously intact as well as a closed chest. His curiosity gets the better of him and he asks if the group would mind altering course to intercept this. [[Elena]] says yes, but asks [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] to check beneath the water, as she does not wish to run the boat aground and sink. [[Persephone Amoransia Damnari|Persephone]] assures [[Elena]] that everything is fine and there is no danger, but as soon as [[Elena]] steers the vessel closer, they scrape up against the rock causing some damage to the boat. [[Pipe]] uses his mage hand to retrieve the book, and hops across to the rock, trying to open the chest, but slips and falls into the water. He is pulled up by [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] as [[Elena]] struggles to keep the boat from being pulled away from the rock by the current. [[Pipe]] manages to open the chest and retrieve some gold and a vial of liquid. [[Mealla Glynn|Mealla]] pushes the boat off the rock with her staff once everyone is back on board safely, as [[Elena]] rushes over to check for damage and mend it. The book that [[Pipe]] managed to retrieve is waterlogged and much of the ink has smeared. The name [[Doval]] King is written. It appears to be a spell book of some kind. Unfortunately, much of the writing has been lost, but one page contains a spell that he thinks he could copy and utilise. The group then discuss Elena’s vision and these renegades and what would happen if [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] were recognised. [[Raphius Sunward|Raphius]] lets them know about [[House Devell]] and that they may be a good contact. They all agree they need to be discreet and cautious about what questions they ask and of who. But they agree to help [[Elena]] find and stop these renegades. The boat continues sailing down the fjord, as night draws in. The tall cliffs appear to loom over them as a faint song reaches their ears.
